In Port began as a pure abstraction. It’s a digital painting made on an iPad. I used direct, bold marks building shapes and texture. I reacted to each mark I made, building and layering until the composition was complete. I aim for pure abstraction, but often my paintings evoke a strong association with the world around me. In this work, living around the waters of Puget Sound comes through. When I view it, I feel the lively activity and industry of ports, marinas, ferries, and fishing. How about you?
